Pell Grant Fact Sheet and Disbursement Dates
To receive a Pell Grant at Palo Verde College Community College you must have completed the FAFSA application, have a completed financial aid file, met with the Financial Aid Officer and signed your award letter. If you have not completed these steps you will not receive your Pell Grant check on the scheduled dates.
Pell Grants are disbursed over the entire academic year: one-half in the fall and one-half in the spring. Each semester there are two disbursements.
In order to pick up your Pell Grant check you must present a picture I.D. and your Social Security Card. If you forget to bring either one you will not be able get your checks. Please do not send another person to pick up your checks, as they will not be permitted to do so.
For your information, not every student receives the same amount of Pell Grant money. It depends on what the SAR (Student Aid Report) calculated as the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) and whether or not you live with parents or on your own. It also depends on the number of units in which you are enrolled. Remember, if you drop classes, your Pell grant money will also be decreased. You must also maintain satisfactory academic progress to receive the Pell Grant.
