Section 3: Selecting Courses

When choosing your courses, Counselors recommend starting your first semester with the foundation courses of Math, English and Reading. At Palo Verde College, you need to take the Assessment Test prior to registering, if you plan to

  • Enroll in Math, English, or Reading classes
  • Earn an A.A. Degree/A.S. Degree
  • Transfer to a University

Assessment of your reading, writing and mathematics skills will provide you with valuable information that
will help you select courses that are appropriate for your skill level.  Proper assessment and enrollment will ensure you of the greatest opportunity for successful course completion.

Your goal is to work through the sequence of courses (see below) until you reach the English & Math needed to complete your program. To move from one level to the next, the English or Math class must be completed with a 'C' or better. These courses may not be necessary to complete if you are working towards a Certificate of Achievement.

Please take a moment to click and print out an Enrollment Worksheet This will allow you to write down the courses you placed into and start to plan your upcoming semester.
