NOTICE OF SCHOOL DISTRICT STATEWIDE DIRECT PRIMARY ELECTION
Palo Verde Community College District
Notice is hereby given that a Governing Board Member Election will be held in the above named district on June 2, 2026, and that the offices for which candidates may be nominated for said election are as follows:
1 Governing Board Member - Trustee Area 1
The qualifications for these offices required under the principal act under which this district is organized are that candidates be registered electors residing within the boundaries of the district, or trustee area thereof.
Official Declarations of Candidacy for eligible persons desiring to file for any of the elective offices are available beginning February 9, 2026, at the following location(s):
Palo Verde Community College District Superintendent/President’s Office One College
Drive, Blythe, CA 92225 Monday – Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Registrar of Voters 2720 Gateway Drive, Riverside, CA 92507
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Declarations of Candidacy must be filed in the office of the Registrar of Voters no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 6, 2026.
Appointment to each elective office will be made by the Governing Board of the School District pursuant to Education Code § 5328 in the event there are no nominees or an insufficient number of nominees, and a petition requesting that an election be held for such offices has not been presented to the Registrar of Voters by 5:00 p.m. on March 11, 2026.

PUBLIC NOTICE
VACANCY ON THE PALO VERDE COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES
At the December 9, 2025, Regular Meeting/Organizational Meeting, the Palo Verde Community College District Board of Trustees considered the appointment of a Provisional Trustee to fill the Area 1 vacancy created by the passing of Trustee Dr. George W. Thomas. All motions to appoint a Provisional Trustee failed due to split votes, and no appointment was made.
Pursuant to Education Code section 5091, the Board approved a motion to call for a Special Election to fill the vacancy. In accordance with state law, the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools subsequently issued an order for a Special Election.
The Special Election will be consolidated with the statewide primary election and held on June 2, 2026. The purpose of the election is to fill the vacant Trustee seat for the remainder of the unexpired term ending in December 2026.
Additional information regarding candidate filing requirements and election timelines will be provided as it becomes available.
